Guilt Damns Us All The story, The Birthmark, fully embodies the origin that unrighteousness can damn us all. In this, Hawthorne depicts the step on it between guilt and lecherousness, guilt through pursuit of perfection, as well as guilt disguised as roll in the hay. After many failed attempts he trie s one stand up experiment, with this last o! ne his assistant, Aminadab, tells him that he doesnt understand wherefore Aylmer is so obsessed with having it removed and if Georgiana was his wife he would love her the way that she loves her husband. But, like most with similar infatuations, he doesnt listen. He finally removes the cursed birthmark but, he complete that he has killed Georgiana with his attempt.
